Sorry for the delay. I'm in the process of moving/unpacking at a new place.
Now a days we have an xbee pro for rf / controller input. In addition we use hostpad and connect to the quad's wifi hotspot.
I've been building robots all my life. Always loved electronics and found programming later in life.
What brings me here is my first flying robot project (QUAD-FU).

Created and flying a Raspberry Pi Quad with a modified ps2 controller. The entire project has been created by scratch, with the exception of some purchased components (motors, IMU, RPi). All of the software has been created specifically for this project with the idea I'll have a whole fleet of various copters eventually.
I've never really flown before so that in itself is a learning experience. As funds become available and the QUAD-FU project advances I hope to be flying without a controller in my hand =)
