I was just thinking...Has anyone looking into real-time correcting the LEA-6 (or other DIY Drones GPS) using RTCM via Internet Protocol (NTRIP). I'm assuming you would just need to have a cellular…Continue
"I just emailed Renee.Butner@faa.gov with the message "Ms. Butner, I am contacting you to request the teleconference call-in number and passcode for the ARAC Meeting on December 19, 2013."
She replied to me in less that 40 minutes…"
"It is possible to achieve centimeter accuracy with 2 ublox in post-processing mode.
For post-processing you can use your own base (a 2nd ublox receiver) or a base on the web (many are available and offer free data).
"Did somebody already try real-time DGPS with 2 Ublox T? I'm very interesting in trying it for UAVs. If i understand correcly what you said John, it would be theoretically possible to reach some sub-decimenter relative accuracy with 2 of these…"
"For those that have not backed (or who aren't following) the Piksi Kickstarter Project yet... they just released an update: "I know a lot of our backers are flying APM based systems. I wanted to let you all know we are teaming up with 3D…"
"I thought since it was open-source there was a lot of potential.
The $900 is for 2 modules or a full RTK setup. You could buy 1 module and post-process with their open-source software for about half the price."
This is not a live project yet. At an anticipated price of $900/module, I find it hard to believe that it will make much of a penetration into the hobby market until the price comes down substantially.

With all of the bad press "Drones" have been getting lately I was thinking someone should come up with a catchy name for all of the "other drones". The good drones that, hopefully, someday will be assisting scientists and engineers to do their jobs or help farmers assess their fields... The good drones that might be first on the…See More
I have experience with GPS, GIS, Surveying, and Photogrammetry. I currently fly different types of multi-rotors. I'm starting to fly more fixed-wing as well. When time allows!
Please tell us a bit about your UAV interest
I want to fly a multi-rotor or fixed wing for hire (legally) someday... I want to process the data gathered... Until the FAA puts out some regs on this, I'm just experimenting with everything I can get my hands on and having fun doing it!
