Tilman Baumann commented on Mike Machado's blog post Sneak peek at mavboard progress
"I could not find any non-marketing material on this new FrSky telemetry protocol. Except that it should be fully customizable, high bandwidth and low latency. We probably have to wait for the release for more substantial info. FrSKy is usually…"

Tilman Baumann commented on Mike Machado's blog post Sneak peak at mavboard progress
"Dimitri, this board is used on the airborne side. Why would you want audio there? FrSky Telemetry receivers don't have voice support just yet AFAIK, but the new Taranis transmitter and modded Open9x do."

Tilman Baumann commented on Mike Machado's blog post Sneak peak at mavboard progress
"FrSky will soon be releasing their new transparent sensor protocol. Which means you can probably pump MAVLink down the pipe and decode it in your transmitter. (Provided you run a opensource transmitter like FrSky's Taranis or the good old…"

Tilman Baumann commented on Chris Hilton's blog post Positive CNN press coverage for UAS, UAVs
"Exactly. The fact that it is Drones is almost irrelevant. But this media message of "Please watch us even more" is driving me crazy. Just because some crazy people blew up a few bombs does not mean that we should invite the people in power…"

Tilman Baumann commented on Chris Hilton's blog post Positive CNN press coverage for UAS, UAVs
"How is Drones watching people for security is a good thing? It's exactly the thing that frightens me. Hey, I love drones. I fly them. But I'm scared that soon we will be watched every step by those buggers."

Tilman Baumann commented on Bill Bonney's blog post New Taranis Transmitter from Fr-Sky with OpenTx firmware
"Yep, that is the promise. But technical details are as yet scarce."

Tilman Baumann commented on Bill Bonney's blog post New Taranis Transmitter from Fr-Sky with OpenTx firmware
"This is probably the most exciting thing that happened in the RC world for a while. The Turnigy9x hack was revolutionary, but it suffered from being cheap and low power hardware. The Tranis has Voice alarms, SD card support, internal and external…"

Tilman Baumann commented on Nick Weber's blog post Techpod Build Video 2 - Wing
"I have seen this MPX plug hack a few times. Seems to be quite popular. I love the idea, but I would rather use a purpose build plug to be honest. Ideally, the plug would be integrated in the wing so it makes contact when the wing is pushed in. This…"

Tilman Baumann commented on Max Levine's blog post Probably the best GCS PC out there.
"Not so sure about glare. From my experience is readability outdoors the only good point about those modern glary displays. Matte displays are unreadable with any direct sunlight shining on the screen from whatever angle. Glare screens work in direct…"

"Display resolution is a bit poor. I know the Paparazzi ground station is near unusable on such screens."

Tilman Baumann commented on Chris Anderson's blog post Let's design a new DIY Drones header! (prize to the winner)
"Oh yes please. I always hated this logo. Looks military and mean. In fact it originally turned me so much off that I did not follow this scene for a long time. Looked like there are just some military fanboy drone nuts here. Which turned out to be…"

Tilman Baumann commented on wayne garris's blog post Proposal to merge XFLR5 and PX4
"Well, if someone comes up with a nice cheap and robust vane for AOA measurement that could be adapted easily. The benefits are pretty clear. Especially for smooth stall landings."

Tilman Baumann commented on Rob Swynnerton's blog post Flyingwings Ltd UK
"flyingwings.co.uk has a UAV/FPV platform now. Basically a huge arrow shaped flying wing with a middle section for payload. Not super inspired, but should hold up well to abuse if it anything as robust as the Slipstream I got from…"

Tell us a bit about your UAV interest
