ContinueGerman company e-volo announced this week the world debut of its VC2 Volocopter at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2012. VC2 is the successor of the 16-motor VC1 – the world’s first multicopter - which first flew in October 2011. AirVenture visitors can see the VC2 rotorcraft in Innovation Hangar Alpha.…

George Tarrant said… Hi Turner
Good to hear from you. The good news is that I have a lot of autopilot design experience (40 years); what I bring to the table is algorithms for flight control and navigation based on measured or predicted dynamics of the aircraft (I leave others more expert than me to actually implement them). The bad news is that my experience is almost exclusively fixed-wing. Having said that, since I joined diydrones I've developed an interest in 'copters and am currently teaching myself all about them. Since I'm a newbie on copters, I'd be happy to look at any issues you have free-of-charge to judge how far I am up the learning curve relative to your needs.

Strix Consili said… Hey Turner,
This sounds like a pretty neat project. I'm going to be up in Michigan until late April, but then I'll be in Cincinnati for the following 5 months. I'd love to get involved in this project if possible. In terms of background I'm a computer engineer specializing in robotic systems and design. In terms of autopilots most of my experience has been designing AI and vision systems for quadcopters and some experience with control systems for fixed wing aircraft. I feel I may be able to assist you in programming and construction of the X-22. Unfortunately I don't know of many other people in the Cincinnati area who are well versed in this sort of thing. Let me know if you would like my assistance in this project.

Season Two of the Trust Time Trial (T3) Contest has now begun. The fourth round is an accuracy round for multicopters, which requires contestants to fly a cube. The deadline is April 14th.1299 members
