Started this discussion. Last reply by Wayne Apr 29, 2011. 22 Replies

Ok so last night I took pics of my easy star that I eventually plan to use as a drone but for now, since I have zero flight time, I am going to just get it to the point that it runs as a plane so I…Continue

"Generally speaking CG is very important although if it's off a couple of millimeters it shouldn't have such a drastic effect. You may want to check the diydrones forum for older posts on the EZ and general setup, rcgroups for general…"

"Well this is slightly off the topic of "What to get" but last night I decided to do the unthinkable, try to fly the Easystar. Well I learned a few things. CG is very important, the ground can be very hard depending how fast you're…"

"Hi Wayne, short reply from someone not-so-different from you (at least in terms of thirst for knowledge :) You write you have zero flight time (which I interpret as never-having-flown-a-RC-plane) then I would strongly recommend you that you either…"

What to get?

Well it has been a long time since I have been in here and posted something. It appears there have been some advances during my absence. To start I have an Easy Star that I am turning into a drone. Just yesterday I have received the couple parts I needed to finish my plane off to at least get it off the ground and be a functioning craft. I have 0 flight time and I am hoping to play with it today to learn to fly and get a feel for it before I load it up with all sorts of expensive hardware.I…See More

"Wayne   Interesting. With the long boom, the motor behind the CG and most of the battery weight there too I would have thought the CG would have be well aft of what they recommend as the appropriate position - 78mm from the leading edge if…"

"Wayne, Why the long receiver antenna wire? Most 2.4GHz receiver antennas are fairly short except for the Spektrum AR500 receiver. Are you using a 72MHz RC system? Regards, TCIII"

Warren Osborne replied to Wayne's discussion Easy Star Question
"Hi Wayne. Hope your Easy Star build is going okay.   The plane's CG is a bit of a balancing act. You'll need to try and redistribute weight to maintain the CG of your plane. For the Easy Star that's not necessarily easy (no pun…"
