Compas declination

Started this discussion. Last reply by RedPalm Dec 10, 2012. 3 Replies

I've tried to use auto compass declination and manual with value (+4deg) from website, but direction displayed on MP was still not right. So I've put some experimental value (-5deg) with which my…Continue

Simple mode question/problem.

Started this discussion. Last reply by Georges P. Aug 9, 2012. 6 Replies

I wanted to test simple mode, but I don't understand how it works, or it is not working. I've hexacopter with AC 2.7.1, I've checked "Simple mode" checkboxes at all flight modes, but I don't see any…Continue

How to check GPS aware flight modes ?

Started this discussion. Last reply by Tony Foate Jan 9. 1 Reply

Is there any way, to test Loiter, RTL, Auto modes without flying ?I've tested Stabilize, Alt-hold and Land modes, and they are working well. But when I switched to loiter, my copter tried to run-away…Continue

Yaw tuning

My hexacopter flies in stabilize mode very well on default parameters, the only small problem is with yaw control. First of all YAW response jest very weak in comparison to roll and pitch. Next, yaw…Continue

"Hi Did you work out an answer to your problem? I have my new quadcopter flying OK in stabilise mode. It has 4 x 300w motors so created a few scares until I lowered Rate P to .09. I thought I would try out the Loiter mode. Hovering at 1m, flick…"

"Related questions about declination. How precisely correct does declination need to be for the simple-mode and GPS features to work reasonably well? For example, is being correct to within 1 degree good enough? Or does it matter to make it correct…"

"By the way, there can be spikes in the readings from the sonar caused by electrical noise.  This can be caused by being too close to ESCs or motors and if you don't have a cap + resistor on the powerline as recommended by MaxBotix. …"

"Not quite as sophisticated as a Kalman filter but there is a median filter on it which throws away the top and bottom values regularly so you end up with just the good values in the middle.   Yes, perhaps we need to improve the landing code a…"

Landing and Sonar

Yesterday I did some testing of sonar.I see that sonar altitude isn't smooth - it is understandable, as the ground isn't flat (I was flying over grass and small bushes). That implies nervous jumping of my hexa when flying on low altitude.I think, that sonar data should processed somehow (Kalman, moving average?) before it will be used in altitude calculation. The second issue is auto-landing. When my hexa touches ground, it starts bouncing.I think, that using baro, sonar and accelerometers it…See More

Log analyze

Today I was flying my hexa without telemetry. Now I want to see some details from my flights, but I don't know how. I've successfully exported logs from APM and I have *.log, *.log.gpx and *.kmz files.I can open kmz in Google Earth, but I don't know how to check altitude and speed during flight. Is it possible in Earth ? Or it is in other files ?See More
