gadgetfan2 replied to Simon's discussion Optimizing Motor Question
"Well this a little tricky since neither company puts lots of info on their web sites. First of all the Elbit and EMT Aladin look like similar motor and prop packages.  Elbit 1 has twice the span and takeoff weight compared to the EMT…"

gadgetfan2 replied to Wyatt Ciomperlik's discussion Sleep walker UAV
" A quick run of the TL54 shows that it is similar to the MH45. TL54 has more lift coefficient and a good L/D. MH45 has a somewhat lower L/D but also has a lower moment coefficient that may help. Best wishes on your project."

gadgetfan2 replied to viky's discussion Glider Thrust Torque Problem
"Clarification needed here Viky. The rudder trim causes yaw relative to airflow which the dihedral will cause to create a roll. For a front motor mount (tractor configuration) you will want right thrust to yaw right. On a pusher configuration with…"

gadgetfan2 replied to viky's discussion Glider Thrust Torque Problem
"Well it's usually easier to make some length and alignment measurements. Suspending the plane - not recomended: Hanging the plane and running up the motor can be unsafe depending on how much power your motor is putting out, and will not really…"

gadgetfan2 replied to viky's discussion Glider Thrust Torque Problem
"Two solutions that will work. 1 Easy to do. Use a mixer to feed in rudder correction with throttle input. Only problem is that the torque is not linear with throttle stick position. 2 This is harder to do depending on how the motor is mounted. Shim…"

gadgetfan2 replied to Dr B Holt's discussion Can acceleration in global coordinates be calculated and exported via DCM?
"Hi Dr. B I have some experience in navigation and I think you may have two problems here. First I agree with Cyrus above you have to consider the gravity vector. An accelerometer really measures the specific force. That is, it measures the net force…"
