"have you guys checked out jasonshort's pan&tilt? shows what is possible with this type of technology although the Makerbots' resolution is not the same but still quite amazing considering the price! Just getting better and better."

"Colby, the webbie comes with the cables, you will probably need to/want to shorten them to fit in the plane. Having an extra set for $10 seems like a good idea....."

Profile Information

About Me:
Product designer and R/C glider enthusiast, also lots of robotics thrown in the mix. I have built models since I was a young kid and can make just about anything fly, so the airframe side of the UAV is a piece of cake for me, the programming is what I find difficult, I am a cut and paste kinda guy when it comes to code.

I Can See My House From Up Here!

The Northrop Grumman RQ-4 Global Hawk unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is quite an impressive piece of hardware. It can stay in the air for more than a day, has a range of 3,400 miles, and at very high altitude (its record is 19,928 meters (65,380.6 ft)). Usually it's the military that would… Continue

Hope this is not a duplicate post (I've seen it before somewhere)

A mere 30 centimeters long, the MAVion combines fixed wings with two counter rotating propellers, allowing it to operate with high aerodynamic efficiency--even in adverse conditions, according to the professor.

DIY Drones order arrived today, now time to get to work!

Posted on September 19, 2009 at 1:33pm 6 Comments

Like many DIYers, I have way to many projects going on at once. Not sure how or why this is so but it always happens. This being Saturday I figure that I can dedicate most of the day to finishing my airframe.

List of things to do:

1. trim wing foam, use lightweight spackle to fill the defects.

2. go thru my collection of heat shrink covering to see if I have enough yellow to cover the wings, with red for a wing tip.

3. Cover the said wings in yellow… Continue
