Started Sep 6, 2012 0 Replies

Michael,is there any chance You could implement a bug alerting system into the mission planner? I am asking because of a crash I could have avoided if I were aware of the simple mode bug in fw 2.7.1.…Continue

Hi to all,I still have a strange problem with yaw getting locked after some time of flying and not listening to the radio input. This happened over the versions from 2.0.xx to 2.1 final (the one I am…Continue

"Well, did you look at the price? 250 bucks is quite a number. I use 2x 4S 5000 mAh batteries from Turnigy, I get one for the tenth of the price and get 30 mins of flight time. With one pack, I have 20 minutes flight time. Personally, I didn't…"

Flying at No Mechanical Energy Cost: Disclosing the Secret of Wandering Albatrosses

Posted on September 9, 2012 at 12:00am 4 Comments

I found a very interesting journal article about the flying techiques of albatrosses. It describes their ability to soar extreme distances by using the different windspeeds over the open sea, similar to the flying technique of dynamical soaring we use for hanggliding.

It's in PLOS One …
