Hi all, its wonderful to see wonderful creations... I've been envious (not jealous :) ) of many a post now, and decided to get even! Unfortunately here (Nairobi, Kenya) the electronics are limiting, no access to good airframes save from importing, leaving us enthusiasts disappointed, so I have decided to start with an…

They seem to point the finger at the RC pilot, although I think both pilots were showboating. That is unless smoke on and stay down is a standard go around in the USA

Choosing a 3D Package
Having recently developed an interest in CAD and modelling (i.e. industrial design tools not standing around in a bikini). I found this handy video on CadJunkie that runs over some of the different approaches some of the different packages take (Subdivision, NURBS surfacing and solid modelling). Looking at some of the awesome CAD renders on here i'm sure many members are already quite familiar with this, but for anyone who like me hasn't really touched CAD since the…

Arducopter with 8 Motors - Crash, Rebuild and First Flights
Here is video of first flights with the new lighter Hashcopter. PIDs make it a bit agressive and unstable because of reduced weight. Also you can see the massive camera flying with the copter.
Story goes like this:
I had a bad crash after few hours of flight time with Hashcopter. Crash was caused by flying the battery too empty and one off the ESCs cutting power off. The copter is capable of landing with 7 motors but I made a mistake flying to…

Software development, 150 seconds at a time
Decided to fly with the photodiode azimuth sensing & it was a disaster, as expected. It reminds us of the years spent on Heroine 2200's photodiodes, trying to figure out a way to intelligently detect the start of a period.
Detecting the period was hard. Fast fourier transform needed much more cycles than our…
