Battle Drone Crash Test & DIY Walkthrough
Here is a short video of the design, build and crash testing of the Game of Drone's Battle Quad. It's waterproof, bulletproof, and can fly away from almost any crash.

GoPro Wire Rope Mount with Furniture Coasters
I built this Wire Rope GoPro mount out of a couple of Furniture leg coasters, a Bicycle Brake cable and some electrical brass wire connectors removed from their plastic housing. Test flown this morning and here is the result.
I'm very pleased with the video as I have tried many ways to remove the rolling shutter effect previously and this is by far…

ArduCutter Matures - Becomes A Drone
The last post was almost laughable as ArduCutter barley got off the ground and certainly didn't do much in the way of entertaining. Well, it still isn't ready for Vegas however I've been feeling pretty good about the progress especially since the project was started with a strategy of hope. In the past week or so I have successfully put this quad through many of the basic flight modes and everyone walked away with no broken bones and no blood spilled. A…

PIC32Flight Control & dsESC4
Hereby my project, I wanted to build a quadrocopter to learn more about system control and brushless motor and because it is cool. To target also was to make it without as little wires as possible and that is why I made a…

A few tips for the APM Mission Planner
Having learned the hard way on a few things, I thought I'd put together a little video that shows some tips and tricks with the APM mission planner.
The first time I tried mission planning some things were a mystery, like how do you actually get into auto mode to fly a mission? I found something that looked like a way to do it from the APM software flight data tab, but…

Modifying an Epson printer to print PCBs
This mod was also posted in another blog by me: http://www.rhinofablab.com/profiles/blogs/direct-pcb-printer
and I thought is more suitable to post it in DIY Drones.
Here I'll post step by step modification on my Epson S22/T22 to a PCB…

Successful maiden Altitude Hold and Loiter test on first day flying with my Hexacopter
I managed to test the Altitude Hold and Loiter functions of my ArduPilot Mega2 controlled Hexacopter and was pretty impressed with it. There was strong winds initially but when it died down to a breeze I turned on the altitude hold and it seemed to hover with a deviation of around 2m. Then when I turned on the Loiter mode, my hexacopter stayed within a 5m radius…

Aircraft Design for Fail
Modern fault-tolerance design for aircraft does little to help when big parts start falling off. This study proposes a design approach / philosophy for keeping things aloft during broader system failure.
From PsysOrg: /
"For example, the group studied the plane’s operation during…

My First UAV project
Hi!
My name's Gabriel.
Basically I am a software developer. My previous work was in the avionics field as a s/w developer. But that was several years ago. Since then I did web dev (Django) and a little bit of native iOS development.
For several years I've been looking on many DIY and commercial UAV projects. And I find the whole thing very interesting and fascinating.
So I finally started my own project.
It will be a DIY quadcopter. I think that…

MinimOSD Setup Video
Hi Everyone. Above is an intro video to the minimosd. It still needs a tiny bit of tailoring but I figured I would send it out to the community for review. A video series like this could be beneficial for our community to grow in the future. Open to adding on a distributor logo for some help supporting my own hobby/builds.
Of course the video…

My DIY Tri
Inspired by this series of DIY videos, and a little wary of over-spending on yet another silly flying machine, I've decided to have a go at building my own Tricopter. The idea is to see just how cheaply I can build the whole thing from start…

Android Circuit Editor/Simulator App
By far the coolest phone / tablet app I've come across. EveryCircuit is a simple SPICE circuit design tool with a slick touch interface, shows voltage and current animations and more. This is no doubt the look and feel of circuit design tools for the future. Also could be a fun, easy way to…

SimpleOSD OPEN for DIY OSD Project
Hi Everyone,
Maybe you know, we are manufacturing SimpleOSD since tree years and i'm planning to converting it to opensource since one years.
