I`m still on the uptake with 3D mapping etc and found this TED talk very interesting.
Although he uses a light plane packed with 1000kgs of gear I can see practical applications for drone use here.

The Australian CSIRO has developed an interesting reasonably lightweight close proximity mapping solution for indoor application where GPS is not required. I thought it might have an interesting application as a navigation system for multicopters indoors? Love that 'bobbing worm'!

I got a chance to make a larger map with the E382 a few weeks ago and I ran it through Agisoft Photoscan for the postprocessing.
