Hexacopter APM2 Loiter mode Battery Endurance Test

Testing my fully charged HaiYin 5000mAh 4S 30-40c battery. Almost 17 minutes of mostly Loiter mode flying and a bit of manual flying towards the end.

Successful maiden Altitude Hold and Loiter test on first day flying with my Hexacopter

I managed to test the Altitude Hold and Loiter functions of my ArduPilot Mega2 controlled Hexacopter and was pretty impressed with it. There was strong winds initially but when it died down to a breeze I turned on the altitude hold and it seemed to hover with a deviation of around 2m. Then when I turned on the Loiter mode, my hexacopter stayed within a 5m radius…

My new UGV in alpha

This is what I've done to my Dagu Rover 5!

As it comes out of the box.

I was shipped the 4 motor version.

I live out here in the "boonies", so I get to talk to guys that use and maintain earth moving equipment.

There is even a guy that restores old tractors, stationary engines and such.

Talking with them was great, they all said powering…

Minimalist ArduCopter 3DR build

Hi guys, I just wanted to share some photos of my minimalist ArduCopter 3DR. The APM is using Jason Short's power hack, a Spektrum adapter, and a DSM2 remote Rx. the OilPan is standard except for the compass, which is one of the first ten or so HMC5883L prototype boards from a while ago. The rest of the frame is mostly stock (arms, ESCs, motors), but the stack-up is a little shorter than usual, and…

setting up 6 different flight modes on a Spektrum DX7 using just one channel

These instructions explain how to set up a Spektrum DX7 transmitter for 6 different flight modes, using just the 3 position Flaps switch (in combination with the Rudder switch). This way you'll use just one channel for the flight modes and leave the Gear and Aux2 channel open ...

(note that you have to use…

setting up different flight modes with a Spektrum DX7

This is how it worked for my DX7,

I use various switch combinations of the FLAPS and the GEAR switch which will give you 6 modes;

(note that you have to use the DX7 in "airplane mode", not in "heli mode" to fly a…

Traditional Helicopter Stabilise & Loiter Test

The aim this evening was to prove the new flybarless head with the ACM, and whether it would make a good deal of difference to the flight characteristics. We flew a full 5 min flight which is pretty good as the Heli is quite heavy now with all the extras fitted to it. Also i use a separate flight and main Power battery. a 2700mah 2cell and a 5000mah…

Primary Stage of "Winging It"

We are making quick progress on design, feature, and purpose ideas for our new autonomous concept aircraft. After sketching 4 possible models of planes that we could build, we have decided on one design that we are currently building out of insulation foam. After testing this much simplified version of our plane, we will propose changes that should be made to the design which should improve our final product.

The design we selected for our concept plane (picture of the sketch…

Rutgers students using APM: "Winging it: the Plane of the Future"

We are a group of 5 students attending the New Jersey Governor's School of Engineering and Technology. The Governor's School is a prestigious program at Rutgers University offered to students the summer before their senior year exposing them to many different applications and varieties of engineering. Students are nominated by their schools to apply for the competitive program, which is provided at no cost to them due to funding from multiple companies, Rutgers University, and the NJ State…

ArduPilot Mega Test Flight

I have done a few test flights with ArduPilot Mega at the recent weekend. Everything was perfect and I decided to make a video about operating with APM at the field. I hope it will be interesting for newbies and useful for those, who wonder how APM works in real conditions.

HIL Simulation in XPlane using APM Planner GCS and HK GCS [Video Tutorial]

Hello!

Practically everyone knows that the nev version of APM was released about a month ago, it's still beta now, however a lot of DIYDrones` community members moved on it and have some issues, misunderstandings, and so on during the tests. I was also among them. Finally, I have conducted all the major…
