Norwegian Film company presents the owl cam. Basically, a brushless gimbal mounted on a helmet.
Iam wondering if such a system could withstand the shocks of a skier jumping and going full speed (impacts +…Continue
An interesting brushless gimbal not designed for drones. It seems the brushless gimbal technology that has become so popular for drones is now expanding its reach to the action sports market. Prototypes seem to have a nice fit and finish.
You can see more about the project…Continue

Nice upgrade for those flying a Phantom 1, 2 or Vision. Gives the Phantom a wider stance as well as additional height for camera gimbals. No more legs in the shot when aggressively flying :)

Hey everyone! In case you haven't been following us on our website or here on DIY Drones, we are two guys who have been tinkering with gimbal design and other aerial photography related projects. Over the last few months we've…Continue
Just finished assembling the frame. looks like a tank! lol.Continue
Bending the parts.
Test fit of the stacked up plate and Centerpiece. I really have a hard time bending the parts. I made a sheet metal brake made of wood! Checked the distances from the CAD drawing. everything seems ok. +/- 1mm-- good enough for me.…Continue
Just fresh from the waterjet cutter..
- from my blog hobbyuav,com.
For the techpod 2.0, I want to have a high precision camera gimbal capable of continuous rotation in two axis. I have always likes the brushless gimbals that are…Continue
I wanted to design (actually took reference on a couple of existing design) my quadcopter frame. My main purpose is to have a quadcopter carry a gopro for…Continue

Hardware stability test.
Video "as is".Without any postprocessing (no deshaker, no color correction, etc.)

Some video I shot yesterday flying around the Lick Observatory on Mt. Hamilton. This video is the start of the reason I got into multi-rotors years ago. Capturing smooth aerial video.
Shot with NO post stabilization or in-camera stabilization. Footage slowed from 60p to 24p. InfinityM brushless gimbal on a Droidworx AD6 frame with XM extended…Continue
We are trying a new design of gimbal for…Continue
Hi there is my smallest gimbal project for GoPro. The weight is 135g, carbon 3k, for pitch I've used motor from CD.Continue
I am a member of a French yahoo group on 3D printing. Today a member posted a link to this nice brushless gimbal that he designed for the GoPro hero3 and posted on Thingiverse. he did not reference the controller he is using but he published the design files …Continue
2nd test with the gimbal: 2 axis, pitch and roll stabilized by a homemade mechanical gyroscope. Using a GoPro
In this second test, I added another joint so it can move freely in 2 axis as seen in the beginning of the vídeo. The performance was nice although i performed some very aggressive movements.
PS: i didn't use any bearing in joints,…Continue
I came across StabilGo on Kickstarter this evening. It looks like many of the brushless gimbals out there right now, with the added opportunity to pay 3x the…Continue

I just finished my first actual useful flight trying to do something productive with my DJI Phantom. Very impressed with how it works, although I've done a fair number of modifications to it. Everything you see in the video was shot with a GoPro Hero 3 Black, 1080p30. All the flying was done in ATTI mode, except the exterior shot which was in GPS most. Wind was at…Continue
Very stable vídeo with the octocopter, even without a gimbal!
I've got a little bit of wobbles at some moments but this happened because the GoPro wasn't very well attached to the frame, I have some unbalanced motors and I'm using Hobbyking cheap propellers.
Can't wait to test it with good ones (APC, Graupner ....)
