Processing power for Drones!

Ok - so the critical sub systems for keeping balance, headings etc, are probably best served by a RISC type processor like the ARM and ATMega processors. But on top of that, you could put something that allows an easy access to image processing, communication, logging etc.. In the…

Open Rover

Having seen how easily robotics projects are done with an iCreate, I have wanted to develop a similar platform for outdoor use. I was hoping that iRobot would release a cheaper less durable version of the Packbot or one of its smaller siblings but that doesn’t look like it will be happening any time soon.

My initial plans were to design the platform in the same vein as the Packbot with treads and flippers, if not flippers, a versatile tread…

First Easy Star Setup/Purchase Suggestions

Hello everyone!  This is my first post to the site though I've been following for over a year.  I'm finally to the point where I would like to begin purchasing equipment for my first Easy Star Drone.

Background: I have successfully built and flew my Blimpduido kit.  I've also been flying around for a a couple months the Hobby Zone Champ (RTF).  This has been the extent of my RC/Drone background though I have been playing around with Arduino on other projects for over a…

Ardustation's tracking hardware

Hi,

here is my antenna tracker. A simple BCAC (brain controlled analogic cut :D) wood case. Simply, cheap, working.
In the video a first test with an EZ* flying autonomous, this way I can record the AT working.

Arduino Mega

Arduino Mega

(or for those of us who don't speak Portuguese)

Looks like this board will soon be released, which could be very nice for anyone that isn't planning on using the ArduPilot boards, and it might even be compatible with the… Continue

New (Possibly useful) PIC

SparkFun has a new PIC that seems to have some very nice stats.

It's not quite as useful now that the ArduPilotPro is almost ready, but it does look to have much better performance.

The datasheet shows the most power hungry mode at 75mA max, and 80MHz, which might make processing GPS data in a UAV a whole lot easier, and a 32 bit processor and a ton of IOs are always nice to have.
