How to trigger a Canon camera through an RC transmitter
In this video, I go over how to trigger a Canon s95 camera through an rc transmitter, without taping a servo on top to push the shutter button. Canon cameras use a firmware hack called CHDK that allows shutter control through the usb port. With a simple switch from Turnigy, we can trigger the camera from the transmitter.
Turnigy switch:…

I decided to run some older imagery I came across the other day through photoscan and came up with some pretty cool results. Above is the park behind 3d Robotics where I used to fly after work. Below is an aerial shot of the 3DR neighborhood.…

Introdution
Geo-tagged aerial pictures are very useful for mosaic mapping as well as the creation of accurate 3D models from a terrain.
Michael Oborne added a great tool for injecting GPS data on the EXIF tags by using APM's telemetry log from a flight.
This tutorial was…

A couple months ago we announced the Aeromapper UAV: a versatile all-composite, low cost UAV mainly aimed for mapping applications, but also being used as a multipurpose UAV platform for its great versatility, performance and great internal volume for different payloads. It is offered in 3 different options: as a kit, as a RTF with all the… |

Above Napa Valley

It really takes very little to become hooked on all this UAV stuff... Of course the learning curve for a complete and utter noob such as myself has been immense, but the payoff has been equally so. Being able to send my stock 3DR soaring above a sun-baked vineyard and have it return with a treasure trove of images including one like this, make all the time, frustration and money completely worth it!
Thanks to all of the developers, testers and enthusiasts…

First aerial photography

I'm experimenting with a downward-facing point and shoot camera for aerial photography & mapping.
I had a (very turbulent) flight with APM and called an early abort because of high wind. After looking at the footage, it seemed not bad, so I ran it through hypr3d:

Scout Hexa really stable with Arducopter 2.4.1
I have been working on a hexacopter for aerial videography and photography. The hexacopter is equipped with a ArduPilot Mega with sonar, gps, magnetometer and a camera gimbal. After hours of tuning, I got the Scout Hexa really dialed in.
I really happy with the stability of the Arducopter code. Here is a video demonstrating some of the ArduPilot…

UAV for High School Senior Project
http://arcticuavs.blogspot.com/
As a senior at my high school we are required to complete a senior project prior to graduation. The project can be anything from building park benches to making improvements to the school but it must benefit the community in some way. I have chosen to build a UAV to provide aerial photographs for agencies here in Fairbanks, AK like Fish and Game, city planning, and for public…
