Honey, I shrunk the Parrot AR Drone.

I may have found my next toy. About a year ago, elsewhere on the internet, I predicted RTF sub-$200 FPV quads would soon hit the market, and the hobby would really take off, no pun intended. Recently, I wrote about the…

Nice entry level FPV Quad

Another quad that i found on hobbyking. It caught my eye as it has a monitor inbuilt to the controller. I've seen a few concept controllers maybe this could work?

A nice shortcut to newcomers with a 3-axis gyro stabilization system.

Getting Started

I have been interested in the world of UAVs and quadcopters for some time now, but have never moved much beyond my few single rotor RC helicopters. Back in December, I purchased my first quad, a HeliMax 1SQ to try my hand at flying something other than single rotor helicopters. It is a fun little quad, but very limiting in ability to carry anything. As I am wanting…

Massive crash: Dont forget to tune your PIDS in a rapid descent if you have a heavy quad and big motors!

Here is the destruction of the prototype of my A/V quad. The video is shaky because my carbon gimbal was too light to properly isolate the vibrations, and because the props where not properly balanced.

Its a pity the damn thing had to go like this; I was about to go out and film a race, which is the primary reason for the improvement of the vibration dampening.…

Kangaroo Crash ;-)

I meant to make this a blog post rather than put it on the forum. I thought my most recent crash would interest some of you as after the crash the GoPro recorded some kangaroos crashing in to each other as well.

Happy New Year to you all!

First 3DR Quad Tethered Flight to Correct Leaning

After numerous bench tests, re calibrations, and more bench tests I was finally brave enough to take my 3DR quad out for it's first flight -albeit tethered.  I did some initial outdoor ground testing in which I brought the throttle up to the point of takeoff but noticed that the quad was showing a tendency of tilting forward and right so I killed the throttle, ran…
