Low Cost Thermal Pan Tilt Zoom (FLIR PTZ) Gimbal WISH LIST

What would you like to see in a thermal pan tilt platform to make it effective for UAV usage?

I am with a company called SPI Corp and we manufacture a low cost multi sensor pan tilt platform called the M1-D. The M1-D initially was developed for use on ground vehicles but due to its light weight, small size and low cost it has become very popular with folks in the aerial imaging world…

ArduIMU+ V3 camera gimbal stabilizer on IndieGoGo

My original blog post offering a bounty on software for the ArduIMU v3 to make it into a very good standalone camera gimbal stabilizer attracted alot of criticism and at the same time alot more support.  There are many people who have joined my cause, and pledged to either match my bounty or contribute towards…

Camera Mount Stabilization with MultinoCopter

Hi Guys,

I'm working on the MultinoCopter project since 2 months. It is a 50x50mm size board with full compatible arduino pro mini architecture and 9DOF imu. I didnt share it because i have to finish the multicopter code before. Now it is working as a serial IMU for the computer based projects (calculating euler angles) and camera stabilizer.

Yesterday i tested the camera stabilization code on the 3 axis. The mount coming from a…

Open source closed loop control gyro stabilized camera turret.

Pictured is my first attempt at a camera system comparable to what you would find on a commercial UAV. I hope to make available to the DIY Drones community a light weight, affordable, and highly accurate turret compatible with APM or any other open source autopilot system.

The goals for my design…

AludrACopter!!! or something like that...

AludrACopter Project:

I started my analog 5-DOF modular IMU research and testing in January of 2009. I don't know much about electronics. I researched on op-amps and how to use it to create an analog computing device to do calculus integration of gyro signal then combine it with accelerometer signal. I also incorporated a multi-turn potentiometer to enable adjustable mixing of gyro and accelerometer.

Then from February until April, I researched on a heli platform and… Continue
