Those ships have radar they know the pirates are coming..so unless its armed I do not quite see the application.

and that is why the pirates use much smaller FG boats to be below radar signature I guess. A 300k$ toy may not be enough to catch Pirates except to give some comfort to management IMHO

It's not armed and it's so ugly!
I guess even the prirate wouldn't want to hijack something that ugly. :)

It is meant for surveillance only, i guess when you have suspected boat trailing the ship , you launch one of these for closer inspection from the ship that needs protection. It is suppose to be based on 10 year old design by American designer who is partner with Israeli company who is making this. I don't think Pirates want to hijack this but the ship it is suppose to protecting. :))

Wow! $300,000 is a lot. I'm very amused, because the aircraft senior design planes for my university this past year fit this description to a (close) t. I wonder if i can dig one of the planes out of the trash (they've graduated) and sell it for that much :-P

This would be cool if it had weapons... but otherwise you're not going to be using this a ton.

It looks like a hmm uh eh... i don't know. All I can say is that I've been a lot better designs too. I wonder how well it performs and what is operating range :)

And payload only 5kg. Tho hard to tell it's size from that pic.
