Thank you for the gem! I was exactly thinking and hoping hard one day to find a replacement solution for those acrylic motor holders;

 

They are indeed the weakest part of my one and only brand new Hexa ; Already broke 2 , one just by thighting up a propeller a bit too hard; these crack easily; (2nd broke because of stupid landing with high rise landing gear

 

..Now i just got to get my hands on a 3d printer , hmm.. but where ?! :)

I get all my parts printed from www.shapeways.com especially for the parts that you simply can't buy.  You know, there's already a good sonar mount available from jDrones which I suspect is actually stronger than a printed part...not trying to spoil any fun though!  do what you want!

Hi everyone, 

I'm the creator of that sonar mount and the motor mounts.  In case you are wondering, printed ABS parts (at least from my printer) are MUCH stronger than acrylic parts.  ABS is much less brittle and will bend quite a bit before breaking.

If anyone is interested, I'd be happy to print the motor or sonar mounts for you for $8 for the sonar mount and $15 for a set of motor mounts + any shipping costs.

Also, to be honest, I haven't flown with this sonar mount yet,  I can't imagine it wouldn't work fine though.

I'm still in the process of reassembly after inadvertently landing my copter in a tree about 30 feet up and having it spend the night there in a torrential downpour.  For the most part, it weathered it pretty well.  Just some broken motor mounts and everything electronic needing a good soak in alcohol and a little scrubbing with brush to get rid of some corrosion that was bridging some traces on the bottom of the APM.

Oh and Thanks Mike & Chris, unfortunately, none of the nine hackerspace in my "area" seem very active nor easily joignable for me right now and 2 of them are empty hackerspace entries
