Comment by Ellison Chan on May 12, 2012 at 8:00am The elevon control rods are long, and those rod supports look like their going to be flimsy. Maybe they should have move the servos back to the tail. Interesting camera mount, but looks like something custom made for an expensive camera that they are selling.
When I saw the picture I thought it was going to be a little hand-size plane with everything included. That would have been nice.

Given that the FPV version with the same transmitter/video screen is just $370, I predict that the autopilot version will be around $500.

That looks like a flipping neat setup to me, love the easy to replace expose servos. This is only version one imagine what version 10 will be like.
Comment by Ellison Chan on May 12, 2012 at 9:06am Gary, my prediction is that in we'll have small palm-sized planes and quads, all integrated with video downlink, and autopilots. As with all things technology, downsizing is the trend. That Ladybird, which Chris posted about last week, is a good start. All it needs is an integrated camera system, and a controller like these planes have.
Interesting, how will they get useful endurance?
Comment by Ellison Chan on May 12, 2012 at 9:15am You did say, "in five years". With all this push for electric cars, people are busily working away at better higher endurance batteries. I'd say in five years, we're going to have batteries that are higher energy density that LiPo.
Fair enough, I forsee methods for gathering photos taking at random during long flights and putting together meaningful maps. I also see me still hi jacking threads, sorry Hooks.
Back to that platform, for V1 its pretty exciting.
