I saw something just the other day with somebody trying to fly a small helicopter into a jail in the UK...  And so it begins.

When it's criminal to own an Arducopter, only criminals will have Arducopters!  ;)

Says also, that "had a small camera", probably a FPV setup.

I am from Brazil, I saw it on the local news. This is just terrible for the market, lets hope no over-reacting policies come out of it.

Jason, I bet the attempt would not have failed it they were using APM. ;-)

When you've tried APM, you forget the rest of 'em.  Btw, I got my Naza flying properly.

Wow that's got to be several hundred dollars worth of UAV equipment.  Why would someone throw that much money at something then just leave it at the side of the road...

     I'll bet they just couldn't find it.  No Return-to-launch functionality when they got into trouble perhaps.

     It begs the question, was this the first attempt?  Were they successful in previous attempts?  I guess only the criminals know.

probably a dead battery, they could have picked a base too far away or the day was too windy, or they were surprised, ditched and fled. many possible scenarios.

Its happened in the UK and the US already with standard RC heli's they are crashed into yards whatever is quickly taken and then the guards get the wreck. Hands up all those that now understand why regulations for UA flight are high on the agenda.

Also probably they fled the scene to not be arrested.
