Chris needed to do some prep for the upcoming SparkFun Challenge, so he asked if anybody wanted to get together for a Memorial Day fly-in. I drove up with Andreas and Charlie Burtoff; there were about 15-20(?) people all together, although I didn't actually count.
Here's a shakycam of Andreas flying the Zii, a hex, some of the flyers, and Andreas with his fine-looking FPV mask.

Comment by Jack Crossfire on June 1, 2012 at 2:09pm Is the AMA still giving problems with announcing these on diydrones?
Comment by Andreas on June 1, 2012 at 2:13pm What funny up-side-down planet do you live on?

Is a nice way to say that you were not flying in high altitude. Upside down it's negative, eh!? :P
Comment by CharlieNoFun on June 1, 2012 at 2:53pm I have a neat video from this event :)

Jack, as far as I know the AMA doesn't care, since this isn't an AMA field or event.

FPV footage from that day. Sorry no editing. Both videos have the most interesting part around 3:00.
Comment by Jack Crossfire on June 1, 2012 at 3:27pm Mentions of future east bay RC events are conspicuously absent from diydrones.
Jack: We announce them on the SF Bay Area UAV Fliers mailing list. (It's in the Members tab above) Sign up!

Regards to Charlies video... how did it arm if it was at full throttle?
I gotta get me a quad. I can't believe that. If my heli fell like that, it would be completely destroyed. My last crash, it just tipped over on the ground, and did more far more damage than yours suffered crashing from 1 mile up, onto pavement.
:(
Comment by John Wiseman on June 1, 2012 at 5:30pm Mark (and everyone else, in case you didn't know) -- You can fix the video orientation in youtube. Go to the video, click "Enhancements", and you should see some rotation buttons.
You can also use the "Stabilize" button to help with handheld shakiness (I wish youtube would give viewers the option to do that on all videos, regardless of whether the video creator used it).
Season Two of the Trust Time Trial (T3) Contest has now begun. The fourth round is an accuracy round for multicopters, which requires contestants to fly a cube. The deadline is April 14th.671 members
