I finally finished the body for the ArduCopter. You can check my previous posts for the details but here are the pictures.

balsawood frame

Skinned frame with tissue paper, a little filler and primer.

Final paint and detailing. Just need a coat of clear for extra protection.

Very nice! what's the material over the balsa frame ?

The balsa wood frame is covered with about three layers of tissue paper. There is a thin coat of wood filler sanded down smooth then a couple of coats of primer. Then the finished paint. The tissue paper is the same kind of tissue paper used for stuffing in a presant or gift bag. Very thin (especially when wet). It shrinks when it dries so it is nice ant tight over the frame.

Nice design, but why tissue, and not monokote?

Nice work!

Did anyone but me like it better as an open frame? Then again it would have been less effective to judge orientation as a skeleton.

Now I wonder if anyone plans to adapt a bicycle helmet to a quad?

Crep tissue paper? That is a superb job, even if it adds weight that is excellent work.

Cool frame. Should be perfect help for orientation :).
