Comment by Greg Fletcher on May 27, 2012 at 2:52pm I think their sight is being hacked right now, or it's down for repair. I just googled the company and got the hacker's page
and the real page and now it never connects???
Comment by Greg Fletcher on May 27, 2012 at 3:09pm I posted a link to a news story, not the actual site. I went there(to the real url) and got the anonymous vandalism and then it just wouldn't load. Should I run a virus scan?
Comment by Robert Sinclair on May 27, 2012 at 3:45pm The part that caught my eye was that the video and controls were not encrypted. We'll have to see if anything comes of this.
Comment by Ellison Chan on May 27, 2012 at 8:29pm Well, that's not the first time we've heard that live video feed from drones are not encrypted. My suspicion is that it's not easy to create a lag free live encrypted video stream. Sure Dish and DirectTV encrypt their streams, but that's pre-recorded stuff. And the "live" streams are actually lagged by a few seconds, which is enough time to do the encryption. But real-time live streams, not so easy.

If a takeover were attempted, I wouldn't bet on the attacker gaining full control. The receiver probably just goes into failsafe like any other 2.4G receiver in conditions of interference. A bigger threat is simple jamming of the control signal.
