One of the priorities of the APM team is to continue to find new ways to make it easier to use. The Mission Planner is a big part of that, with it's one-click firmware loading, but author Michael Oborne has now done it again with a great installation utility (64-bit Windows here, 32-bit here) that not only installs the Mission Planner, but also detects which APM you have and installs the right driver for it. That's like five manual steps eliminated!

Great work, Michael!

(As always, it will also check for updates at startup and download the latest version)

Just hover over the icon in the taskbar and right click, then press maximize and then drag to a new size.

  • I had the same problem. Resizing, I believe does not work because the window is not displayed at all. This is definitely an issue. I had to Change the font scaling on my laptop ( Lenovo t500) from 125% to 150% and that worked. Maybe changing the resolution might help as well. What pc hardware (graphics card) are you running?

Richard, delete the config.xml file from the planner directory, this will restore default settings

  • Thx Chris, but I can't get the window to the foreground to resize it. It effectively hidden. Any other ideas?

Richard: Try resizing it (drag a side of the window). That should cure the problem.

  • Has anyone had issues with the mission planner not displaying when loading. I’m using Win6/64bit and downloaded the installer. It installs OK but when I load the program i do not get the mission planner window.

The really strange thing is when I ALT-TAB I can see the program window and the update window. I use ALT-TAB to go to the update window (and blindly) hit enter. I can see the dialog window updating the application, but when it restarts I have the same problem (ie I can see the app running in the task manager, ALT-TAB and see it in the app selection windows, but not showing as a foreground window).

Any help is appreciated. Thx Richard

  • Agreed with Andke -

Why though would you want to continue downloading the zip though if it auto updates the individual files? For now, I see no reason why I would want to download and install the msi. Having a C:\MP is simple :)

  • Please don't stop publishing .zip until we know it it installs using Mono (on Linux etc), and makes proper shortcuts etc..

The microsoft "next, next, next, finish" installer ritual Is often more an annoyance than helping,. and unless it'll get everything right, including shortcuts, it's simply easier for a user to unpack and run it. (because it's even easier to find the executable)

So thanks for doing this  - but please keep .zip for now.
