ArduPlane team leader Andrew Tridgell and the rest of the Canberra UAV team show their stuff in this required video for the Outback Challenge. The first part is all checklist stuff, but flight starts at 11:41. Listen closely for the ArduPlane automated voice reports!
Looking good! Here's the link to the takeoff.

Nice detailed checklist. A proper checklist would have save my plane this past saturday. I checked it all "in the brain" and not on paper. Overlooking the step where you lift the tail and roll the plan to validate arduplane is countering correctly. I flipped the switch and dove into the dirt. Now I have a list.

Oooh... nice to see Tridge and his team in action! =)
Good look for you all! Go APM go go!
Comment by Greg Fletcher on April 23, 2012 at 7:42pm That's a big plane! Is there a camera gimbal that goes on the bottom in front of the bottle? Don't show the competition your equipment.
I'm sure team Canberra will win this one!
Good luck Tridge!

@Greg,
We don't have a gimbal yet - for now we point the camera straight down. We may add a gimbal later based on test results though.
We don't mind the other teams seeing our equipment - we decided early on to be a completely open team.
Cheers, Tridge
Comment by PeteD on April 24, 2012 at 5:10am The credits on the video say "Paul Tridgell", I'm confused.

@dydx,
Paul is my brother, and he has been kind enough to sponsor the team, so his name is in the sponsors list.
Cheers, Tridge
Comment by Cool Dude on April 24, 2012 at 2:19pm Great setup. I have been looking for spacious frame like this myself. Is this a custom frame or I can buy it as a kit somewhere?
Thanks
I'm doing the SUAS competition in the states, and I was wondering how your team changed the failsafe action for Arduplane. We have to do something similar for our competition.
Season Two of the Trust Time Trial (T3) Contest has now begun. The fourth round is an accuracy round for multicopters, which requires contestants to fly a cube. The deadline is April 14th.4 members
