Dark Star v2

I have lightened the Quad and made the cargo bay bigger. Still need to do landing gear and put the ArduIMU in to control it.
The electronics bay screws on the top.

Very soon for pan and tilt camera. Lots of room.

The electronics bay. It unscrews from the main body.Holds the batteries also.

Clear dome over camera. Now to design a landing gear !

    I have some bad news to report.

    Here in NM where the big Fly-In is to be held on May 14-17 2010.

    I am canceling the event because:
    In the last 2 weeks we have had either High winds alert or warnings 13 of the last 14 days.
    The weather prediction is another high wind front coming in on Monday thru Thursday.
    RATS !!!

    I hope we can reschedule for early June.
    I will keep everyone up to date.

    BTW..anyone here planning to come to the fly in here in NM on May 14-17 ? Some locals from ABQ would like to come also. FPV rides are welcome also ! Heck, with 160 acres, ground vehicles are welcome also.
    We have 1 very nice Motel and 2 niche motels with rv parking also.
    3 miles from a town of 1200 on a 160 acre ranch. And yes, you may hit the barn, I have !

    I was planning on that. Video, camera, and OSD, and TX on it's own 7.4 vdc 2c lipo.

    It's best to have your video TX run off a diff battery.

    Eliminates a lot of hassell tracking out RF interference/noise.

    I have used 30 Mw on ham radio TV signals and have gotten over 40 miles. Of course the antennas were big.I estimate several miles with this setup.

    Wow. I guess I better get at least one more for the video lol. You haven't tested the range of your video system yet have you?

    I actually have 3 batteries. Each PAIR of motors have a lipo and the 3rd 7.4v lipo is for the camera OSD and TX.

    So for my purposes, since I only currently have one battery for my arduPilot and all the rc gear, would you recommend that I buy a second batter to power the OSD, camera, and the video transmitter?
