Going forward, Hybrid System drone (Sandwich Drone Project)

In this month I've worked on my generator, it is composed of a brushless motor, a glow one and a diode bridge rectifier, as you can see in picture

It was able to generate at max throttle about 1.2 kW , starting the motor is difficult, I don't love glow engines (I only figured it now ahah) but the point is that my generator works and with some modifications to reduces vibrations can be mounted on a drone.

What I want to do now is to use a gas motor to generate the energy because glow engines consume a lot more fuel (I will be able to generate 1 kW/h with 0.30 L ). 

I have also made a new frame to sustain a bigger cargo system (and the generator) 

I don't have enough money to buy the gas engine and also upgrade my old APM system to a new pixhawk one so I'm selling my laptop (I'm a student, and have also to pay the flight school) 

But I'm trying, the numbers are good 1kW is enough to sustain my configuration with 2KG  of cargo weight.

What diode are you using with the brushless motor?

use active rectifier (synchronous rectification), as they are used in high effective converters. If interested mail me and I can help you with documentations.

That's nice findings, would you share your voltage and current measurements. Have you used rectifier like this;

yes, this is my rectifier. The amperage is 66 (-+) and voltage 18 (-+)

What is the diode part number you have used for the above design?

there are six diodes

I'm using the brushless engine to start my gas engine. Then i switch to generator mode.

Thats a similar project ive made, we used the following brushless engine to start the gasengine:

and a similar circuit to this:

The part about this circuit could work both as the "harvester" when the engine is running and a starter for when the engine stops or etc

A colleague of mine doing his phd was working on an inline power system for his thesis. It was to be used on a small airship: the inline generator could be used to recharge the batteries. It looks a bit like your setup! See page 11: https://ruor.uottawa.ca/handle/10393/31711
