Has anyone considered the Wii U tablet/joystick for FPV flying purposes?

The WI-FI enabled device has a 6.2 inch (854×480), touchscreen display which can be controlled via touch, stylus, or joystick.  It seems like there's some cool hacking potential here...

It would require some external mods i'd say.Not sure on range with wifi .good idea!

Wifi will give you like 100m. Maybe use your laptop or other dedicated device to act as a relay

Interesting idea.  At the vest least you could pull the internals out and put in your own sticks and rig up a video receive to the screen.

If you connect this device as Joystick using the APM2x (and not WIFI) , you should consider there is a delay of 1-2 seconds between your command the reaction on model, comparing with a real direct TX controller. 1-2 seconds on FPV is a lot of time...
