New Distributor - Australia FunWithDrones.com.au

Hi Everyone,

I'm opening an online supply channel in australia for 3DR and jDrones. Initial products on offer are the ardupilot 2.5, parts and multicopter kits. I will be expanding into arduplane and POV kits very soon.

FunWithDrones Australia

Although not all products from 3DR and jDrones are listed, if there is enough interest, I will add them in and begin shipping your requests.

A big thankyou to the DIYDrones community, 3DR and Jani from jDrones. I look forward to contributing and help make your drone ideas a possibility.

Regards,

Alec

Great news!  Congratulation and welcome to the big family!

Feel free to contact me if you need any help, I know how overwhelming this will become (and it's good that it does)

I am jealous that you can sell GoPro there, here they require real corner store... :(

Hi Alec,

It's great to have a local distributor. I by most of my stuff direct from 3DR because they have the best range, but would consider buying local to save on postage. The high Aussie dollar makes it cheap to buy things from the USA right now.

IMHO, as a big buyer of stuff online (what choice do I have with this hobby!),to be successfull selling locally there are a few things your store must do

  • Sell at comparable prices to 3DR
  • Offer cheaper shipping within Australia (currently it costs me $30-40 to ship stuff via Fedex from 3DR)
  • Offer fast shipping - this is critical in my book. By all means offer cheap overland options, but you need express post and courier options as well. If I have to wait 2 weeks for delivery then I'd rather pay extra and buy directly from 3DR.
  • Offer good service - this seems to be what sets a good online store apart from the rest.
  • Maintain stock levels - if things are out of stock it's too easy for me to look elsewhere on the web

I hope it goes well for you, it will be good to have a local distributor. Are you in Sydney? I'm in Perth.

Thanks Dany, much appreciated and looking forward to it.

I have paired with a licenced re-seller for the go-pro cameras. They have been a good supporter of this and will be the ones supplying the cameras. I've had great dealings with them so thought it best to get them in.

Hey James,

Thanks for the advice. I expect initially things may be a little slow at first but certainly down the road it will be stronger as stock grows and i can get more resources. I will certainly do my best to ensure a great customer satisfaction though.

I agree on all points you raised there as i've been the same myself when building my stuff.

I am based in northern sydney. I've supplied the exact address in the client area for registered members on the site.

Hey Gordon, yeah its the price I can get them for at the moment but i'm working to get a better deal, so as things progress, i'll be able to offer them cheaper.

Hey Marooned, yeah Amazon has some great deals and i can't quite compete on their level. I'll have a chat with the re-seller and see how i can get them cheaper.

Cheers guys, thanks for the feedback. all apart of progress.

Alec
