We had a great time at Maker Faire, which was absolutely packed (100,000+ people). Above is a panorama shot of the 3D Robotics talk on Quadcopter UAVs, which was standing room only! (Thanks to Alan Sanchez and Sam Kelly for the ArduCopter flying and panorama photo taking).

Guess what was at the NASA Ames booth? (See next photo)
APM 1 in a balloon-dropped glider!
Here's the video promo. Check out the autolanding on a boat!

Is that glider model this one?

I wish I could have made it! Just couldn't fit it in right now. :(

Comment by Ellison Chan on May 22, 2012 at 12:27pm Lol, people will look back on that panorama in the future, and say, "I was there when it all started". May it should be posted on Facebook for people to tag themselves, or their friends that are in there.
Interesting that NASA is also using a Turnigy 9x as a transmitter too. Now I can say that I operate the same aerospace equipment as NASA.
Comment by Adam Conway on May 22, 2012 at 1:46pm Chris will the video of the talk available? I was there for a moment, but my 4 year old was done at that point and I could not stay.
Video is now online here:

Great presentation... I guess we should be happy your first EasyStar flight ended up in the tree!
Is there a picture of the cartoon anywhere?

Nice Video Chris! very informative and tells what we have reached. (and a hit to the future!)
will link it from my site (if you don't see any objection)
Wish I was there! maybe next year!

Here's a visual note-taker's record of the speech from here:
