Professional carbon fiber frame - 2

Hi all~

This is the second episode. The first episode is here:

http://diydrones.com/profiles/blogs/professional-carbon-fiber-frame

We decided to make it ... more colorful :) Just to be clear, all figures here are still CG, the prototype is being printed.

There are two doors on the frame, one on top, one on tail, both with sealing rings to make the frame waterproof. We plan to fasten the doors with screws, not as convenient, but probably more secure.

We are now making changes according to the feedback from the fellows in this community (thank you very much!), including:

- More flexibility of the flight controller orientation

- Swappable battery instead of built-in

- Retractable landing gears

- Improvements in aerodynamics (we don't have capability in CF simulation, trying our best...with the brain power)

...

We plan to adopt H-frame as our next design, with a semi recessed nacelle (thanks again for the suggestion).

  • @Fnoop

Thanks for bringing this up. The main body is not completely sealed, there are holes at the bottom of the main body for wiring. The top and side of the main body are sealed.

  • If the entire payload bay is sealed waterproof, how does the barometer breathe?

  • @Ravi

This a good reminder that I should attach links to previous blogs where I posted the dimensions :)

Designed frame size is 1050mm, with 28 inch blades, and arms of different sizes will be available, so the users have some options.

  • @Elios

This frame is X4/X8 compatible, so yes it is weather proof.

  • @Indie Now being printed. There will be a series of blogs.

  • i am interested in X4. can u reveal the dimensions of the frame. I would also like to know the dimensions of the battery compartment.

  • will the X8 be weather proof? if not, can you do one?

  • Here is how the frame looks when the two doors are removed

  • Hi Elios, thanks for asking, the designed weight is around 900g, and we are really looking forward to measuring the actual weight! In terms of the Hex frame, yes we can, but we will be working on this X4/X8 for a while, and H-frame is lined up next...

  • HI, What is the weight of the frame and can you do one with 6 arms?
