Successful Maiden Flight of the Nova

The Nova Flies! And quite well at that!

Added 10 oz of weight in the nose to make sure it was nose heavy for the maiden, and that turned out to be much too much! Skipped off the grass on take off! Took out 4 oz, and will be taking out even more as I get a better feel for what works.

As it’s designed to be a FPV/AP airplane, the nose weight will be replaced by FPV/AP equipment.

I’ll be adding the build plans and instructions on my website http://www.MyGeekShow.com later next week for those interested in building one.

  • Nicely done.A few carbon rods may help the rigidness and flex.Especially with extra equipment.

  • Thank you Gary!

I should have said that the weight is only temporary, and will be replaced by FPV camera/Go-Pro, i.e. airplane was designed to have that gear in the nose.

Well done Trent, as always the only thing to ever add to an aircraft is lightness.

Once you have your bird flying well fettle the design to a point that means you don't have to add anything in the nose.

Your going great guns, again well done.
