Today I started to wiring our ArduCopter 3D Model. So, I decided to do a little instructional image showing how to make a cable for the magnetometer board using the DIYD's GPS cable.



And, here go some other images that I want to share with you all. :)

PS.:The location of XBee on the illustrations will be tested soon by Jani. We need to know if it will cause interferences on the magnetometer.

Impressive modeling, but...is there a point to going into that much detail? If it's just for fun that's cool of course. It's just that as someone who does a good deal of modeling electro-mechanical systems for my job, I've almost never had a need for modeling components in that sort of detail. So long as everything fits, the few minutes it takes to size the wires on the prototype is significantly less than dealing with all the extra 3d splines.

Hope that didn't come off overly critical. It really does look great. What software are you using?

This is immensity impressive work, it looks like a photo, the KDA motors are simply stunning. Can you write more about yourself and how this was done. There is no way this is a hobby for you, you must be in the film industry or something. How long does it all take?

I would love to see you make a blog post about how this was achieved.

I just noticed the motor wires are going inside the frames as well, this is not the same as in real life is it? This was done by a few people with MikroKopters and it causes the wires to rub on the slots and then they short against the frames causing a crash. If the real frame is like this, you might want to test this over a few flights, it might look better but is style over functions.

The way around this is to have the wires going in to the ends of the arms, this way they form a loop and don't rub. I hope I explained that well enough.

Yep ,Wires need to protected with appropriate sleeves or grommets else shortcircuit :), I am sure this is taken into consideration by builders.

Nice job. The hardest things to animate (in my opinion) is fur, grass, and anything particle based with realistic motion, Wires is in the same field, its hard to make them look natural.

Sandro, Nice work on the motor! The diffuse and specular reflections/highlights are very good. Are you using your own material libraries? I also like the carefully controlled transparency on the acrylic. Seems to me you have put a lot of time into the material as well as the modelling.
