  • @Tearig,

How goes the development of your frame?

  • Silly me.  After looking closer, I realized you do have conceptually two cameras mount.  I thought these were longitudinal support tubes.  Oops. Sorry the confusion.  I do however like the idea of binocular vision on this frame and I'm still interested in ideas and systems to explore.

  • @Tearig,

I was looking at the conceptual images of your air frame and it gave me an idea that I would like to give further thought too.  The two longitudinal tubes almost looked like eyes just above the gopro mount.  Got me to thinking on equipping your air frame with binocular FPV vision.  Idea is to develop a fast flyer and pilot it with the dual vision cameras for 3D navigation via googles.  Since I haven't really had a reason to mount something like that, do you have any recommendations as to equipment I should consider?  I know of the Oculus Rift and will study their product to see if I think it's a good fit for your air frame, but I'm open to ideas and suggestions if you have any.

  • Like Dan said know your source and material traceability is key, something that dan if local can help with also...

  • He is local, just email me, and I'll send you his info.

Last time he did a 2'x4' sheet, almost all used, charged me $100 :)

  • Sorry Dan, yes I forgot.  My brain is saturated at this point. :)

  • 3701876614?profile=originalI water jet CF all the time Rob, I told you before :)
Not much issue TBH, just use good grade CF, not hobby king crap

  • the additional information information has shown me the way! Thank you!

Recent Q&A about the frame that others may benefit from....

Production versions should be sub 200 grams for the 300 to 340 diagonal frame size,it will get bigger or smaller depending on how you want to set it up.

What is the weight of the frame?  Sub 200 gram Aim with the integrated PDB and pre wired motors mounts.

The what is the height and length of the fuselage spars?

Are you talking about the FC and other component modules? If so I can send you the proper insert tray for whatever FC you choose and the other modules or add ons adapter plates, from big like the Pixhawk to small like the new 35mm and smaller form factors.

How do you envision the electronics including the battery to be installed on/in it?

Trapeze system used as vibrational mass ballast for the battery box, so you can just velcro it on the cheap or can used my setup where a post tensioned system is used to hold a modular battery bay.

Will I be able to mount a 4-in-1 ESC to this and a Pixhawk controller?

yes, and I will just have to give you another "drawer" for the the center flight stack bay

  • as you found out, once you post your posted...

I purposely made an error - your vs you're. It cannot be edited out of the post.

If I highlight my text and copy it, assuming most of it is correct and what I wish to post, I can then paste that into a new post and make corrections.

Then I post (Add Commnent) the new comment.

Next I would delete the original comment, eliminating the error.

  • the weather has me a bit grounded for experimental testing, this week will be a productive one!

Doug, since it moves pretty quick and that is one of several machines in the same room, when I say go your frame with kind of appear. At least for me it is akin to magic, as my alternative methods to do the same things aboard has a average 3 week latency... When the design is refined to the point that I think it is good enough for my testers it will take a few hours to get all the many sets ready for shipment ;)
