MR60

Here a typical week-end "dronegeek" DIY build project : expermenting with 3D printing to make a 900mm Pixhawk quadcopter, with 380Kv motors, 16" props and powered by 6S batteries.

Credits for the frame : do not forget this excellent post from Forrest Frantz on light frame construction techniques:

  • Nice :) I'm waiting a Pix and a dampenning system like yours, I hope that my Ex-old cuad flyes nice now :)

    Hi Cala,

Yes I did some basic flight testing last week and results are great.

flies for 35 min @80% discharge of a 8000mah 6S LiPo, carrying an additional 300gr payload:

Also did a succesful Autotune. It flies rock solid (but a bit too brutal for good AP):

    PIDs before autotune:

    PIDs after autotune:

3702083977?profile=originalI also tested Xrotor40A ESCs on this setup : theyare working perfectly with these 380Kv motors and large 16" props (no sync issues event with hard throttle variations).

  • Any test yet? followers are waiting ;)

  • No antenna should be ABOVE GPS antenna....

Tobias, thx. About ULRS, here is the quote of the creator of it:The current version uses frequency hopping, on 3 fixed frequencies. The problem is that the frequencies are hard coded, so you can't fly with another ULRS user.
The new version allows to select any number of hopping frequencies.

  • Pretty nice !!!!  :)

well done!  very clean and organized.  wish i could build that pretty.

  • very nice project. I like the clean layout of the components and the integrated pixhawk vibration dampening mount on top of the frame. I'm not sure about the ULRS system. It hasn't implemented binding at the moment, so it is a 'single user' system. I wouldn't fly with it. If anyone happens to be in your frequency, good night...

Thx Guy, about flight time, I did 1h15 min with this frame on LiIon 4S. Here it will be probably less as I do not optimize weight aspects as much. We'll see...

Ah and about ULRS, I use HK Orange TX modules with this firmware:
