I've been a DIY drones member since at least 2009. I have a couple of sites I likes to fly at but packing the flight gear and driving down to the park only to find it's too windy to fly can be frustrating. Instead I built this app to drop windsock markers down on a map and get the latest wind readings for a near-by location so I know if it's great weather to fly.
Windsock has the ability to instantly provide current wind forecast information on demand for almost anywhere in the world and can provide a forecast every 3 hours for the next 4 days ahead.
If you have an iPhone or iPod Touch I would love to hear how you use it.

Hi Adam,
I've been working on some updates for Wind Sock. Is something like this how you saw it with a tab at the top?
Richard, I have attached 2 pictures as an example. The first showing the windsock is what you see when you first search for an address to add. Once you click done, the option to see the "Top down" view is no longer available. All you can do at this point is view your saved locations like the sencond picture in the list view.
Would be nice with some kind of toggle between the two views of your saved sites.
Not too impressed with this one. Bought it, Downloaded it, was expecting to use it to see the map view showing windsock. The only time the map view is available is when you initially search for an address. After that only displays list of winds with list of times.
Much better apps out there. I use Aeroweather. It gives you airport winds, weather radar, webcams, forecast, etc.
I recon it is aweosme then to have both , for predicting the furture and current setup.
Windalert looks interesting, how much is a subscription? I like the idea of using the microphone but I wanted to know what the wind was doing in a few hours but without being at the location so you can plan things in advance.
Hey I use this application, it uses the microphone to determane the wind speed

very effective,
I have been using an app called windalert. Will check out Windsock too.
Seems a very good idea! I wonder what are you using to get the data... how accurate it is.. sure depends on data... so we get it from weather station? are you indicating the origin of the reported data on the map (like a radius display where the station is)
