    I can remember at Yeovilton airday when I was maybe 4 one pulling up and going vertical after a low level run and asking my dad if it was a spaceship, as you say so much noise, sadly they were out of service by the time I joined the RAF, there were still a few Lightenings around and everybody came out to watch them arrive, even if it was only to watch there tyres burst ;-)

    Vulcans strafed my quarters regularly when I was stationed in Scotland. At about 100 feet The rumble it was worse than the major earthquakes in southern California, My kids loved these... I wish I had video back then..
