Here's the calling code from ArduPilot GPS_EM406.pde.zipGPS.pde- shows getting GPS and sending cmds to the slave. I think it would be very easy (and not stress the system) to connect ArduIMU and ArduPilot. I'm planning just that.

Good eye! It's an cold war era KM or (Caspian sea monster). As far as house boats go, you and I are about the only people who think that would be a good idea. Now I'm REALLY glad I found this forum. As I say to my wife, "I've finally found MY people..."
An ET in the Navy? I was an RM in our beloved Coast Guard! Yeah, I know, "shallow water sailor" (I've heard them all!) After tours on Ice breakers and patrols in the gulf of Alaska, I've had my fill of the deep blue! Now I just enjoy the view from Long Beach harbor.
My family has a cabin in White Pine Colorado, (near Gunnison). It's been over 20 years since I've been there, but we have plans to (finally) get back there this summer. Should be interesting...
I have a few RC planes, one is FPV, but no autopilots yet. Hoping to follow the lead of you and others here and assemble and autopilot using ArduIMUV2+ and yet to be selected flight computer. I'm a computer vision type and am considering the BeagleBoard or GumStix or similar in order to have some image processing power available.
Are you running your autopilot code on an ArduPilot board or something else? Also, what's a Ventus HCX? I'm impressed that you have a Stryker flying on auto and look forward to seeing you win the SF competition in April.
Thanks for the system descriptions Mark. I've been using 2.4GHz video (from BlackWidow) on my 6' Telemaster (7.5 lbs, AXI2826 13x7 prop 4S 4900mah LiPo), but video downlink quality isn't consistent enough (no diversity receiver). I'm thinking about ATV (amateur band 434MHz/70cm), but that's probably more expensive than other options. What's your advice for FPV?
I got a general class license a few years ago just so I'd be legal on 2.4GHz at 200mW. Since there's no Morse code requirement anymore, the general and extra aren't much more difficult than tech.
Is the 910MHz TV signal much better than the 2.4GHz, and are you using a diversity receiver?
Mark,
Thanks for the info. So hooking up the system without a long coax cable hasn't harmed the amp? I thought that the DX7 puts out about 200mw and the amp input was 100mw and we had to use a -4db or so attenuator.
I will on both counts.
I'm about to cover the fuse of the Easy Star with 3/4 oz fg and epoxy. I deepened the fuselage by 1 inch to get more space inside. We'll see how much this thing weighs when I'm done.
I probably could solder 32g wire to it, me being type A and having to have things exactly right I ordered a new Mega and will be ordering a new IMU at some point in time.
Hi Mark, Unfortunately I can't be at AVUSI this time - I not only cover UAVs but the rest of aerospace as well - so I have to pick and choose my show/exhibitions - I can't get to them all! But Farnborough was very interesting for UAVs earlier this year!
Season Two of theTrust Time Trial (T3) Contest has now begun. The fourth round is an accuracy round for multicopters, which requires contestants to fly a cube. The deadline is April 14th.

Thanks. I think I'll use an attenuator also. You've been very helpful.Delete Comment

I need your e-mail address for this info
Peter
Send me an e-mail and I will send you my SET file for the Stryker.

I am also keen to hear your findings with 2.7 and to hear more about your sim tests + what you have configured and how. It all sounds brilliant!
So, how can I help you with eclipse and camera control ?
Any questions in particular that I can answer ?
