My wife and I spent a weekend at a campground near Sedona Arizona. I brought my quad along and had some fun (terrifying fun) flying it over a creek.

I'm using a GoPro 2 and at times the footage becomes over saturated. I also had to run it through an After Effects filter to get rid of the vibrations. Did I mention I hate vibrations? I hate vibrations! I've tried balancing the props, etc, etc, but nothing seems to work. I'd like to try some other 2 axis camera mounts but most seem very expensive and need to be shipped over seas.

I've seen a lot of frustrated posts about vibrations which leaves me wondering why there hasn't there been an open source effort to create a cheap vibration free mount. I have a 3D graphics background and I've lately decided to take a stab at creating a design. Unfortunately I haven't been able to devote much time to it due to work and family. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the vid. FYI, the music is by Chris and Thomas. Cheers!

Love it. I did notice vibration, looks so good for me.

Can you share your quad parameters you are flying?

Hi Criro,

At the time I was flying the older 3DR Quad (with longer arms) ardupilot mega 1, sonar, optical flow, 850kv motors, Gopro 2, and a cheap (too cheap) 2axis mount from Hobby King.

Camera Mount:

The mount is positioned at the very front of the quad so as to avoid any chance of capturing the props or landing gear in the video frame. I had to spend a lot of time auto tuning the quad to account for the resulting balance problems.

After a few bad crashes I've since decided that redundancy is a good thing and I'm in the process of upgrading to a hexa. In regard to the vibrations, I had to run the video through an Adobe After Effects "Warp Stabalizer" filter. It does a nice job of smoothing out video but there is some resolution loss which is not ideal.
