3dr 433mhz won't accept at commands

Hi,

I got a 433mhz radio kit from 3dr and it won't take AT commands.  I can't load settings or upload firmware using 3drradio config or atm planner.  When I click on load settings the red led blinks then I get an error "Failed to enter command mode". 

I check my port setting,

set to 57600,

data bits 8,

parity none,

stop bits 1

flow control none. 

The device manager reports usb serial port on com3, usb serial converter.

The Rx and Tx connection from FTDI cable to radio is opposite of each other?

Rx to Tx and Tx to Rx or should they be the same?

    As far as i know you still have to do FW updates with the USB cable. This was told to me.
