I have started to add functions to MinimOsd code.
At first i did it for myself only. Added many functions i thought i need. Then opened this thread.
after a while, Pedro and later Miguel came, and things started to happen fast. :D
They have optimised the code and added even more things to it.
They have worked hard on CT, and it became a great tool!
Thank you Bough! :)
By now MinimOSD-Extra got a pretty advanced OSD.
Here it is in action:
- Changeable unit measurement (US, metric)
- Home alt
- Battery Percent
- Battery used mah
- Current Draw
- Time From Startup (cleared at takeoff to show exact flight time)
- OSD Menu
- Wind horizontal speed and direction, and also the average wind speed of the last few minutes.
- OSD on/off
- Switchable secound screen
- WP distance
- WP heading
- Crosstrack error
- Warning messages for Lost GPS fix, Stall, Overspeed, battery volt, battery Percent, RSSI
- Efficiency, glide distance & thermic notifier. 3 in one panel
- OSD Brightness
- HAM Call Sign
- After flight summary
- Trip distance
- Smoothened horizon
- Real heading
- Vertical speed
This functions can be turned on and off, and placed on different screens now, by the Config. tool.
Also RSSI, switching mode and channel and unit measurement, Stall speed warning, Overspeed warning, Battery warning volt, Battery percent warning, RSSI warning, can be set in new Config Tool.
We built in a new way of setting video standards. Now OSD does not guessing anymore :). You can set it fixed from CT. It is in "Video Mode" menu.
Here is how it looks: (This video is a bit outdated, sorry. I will make a new one soon.)
The MinimOSD-Extra project is here: Link
This project is the developing version of the official Arducam OSD located here: Link
The latest stable version is: 2.2
The latest version can be downloaded from here: MinimOSD-Extra R800
CT is included. (The FW for Plane, Copter, Character upload and the character file is in the "FW & Char" directory inside CT directory)
We are sharing it to see videos you make using it! :)
Help needed! Just finished updating my quad to Arducopter 3.1 rc7 and now my OSD is not displayed on my video feed. Previously I was running 3.0.1 and the OSD was working perfectly. I have checked the SR0 and SR3 parameters to match what the wiki says but still nothing. I have also tried it with telemetry and without. Has anyone had the same issue and what was the fix? I would be grateful for any suggestions!
Thanks for the details. Am I correct in thinking I need to modify the SR1 parameters? Does it effect the cpu in the APM 2.5 if these are modified? Can I modify SR1 to the same as SR3, will this work? Thanks for the help.
trying to get up to speed on the new firmware.. I have been using quite an older version.. but now I flashed the most recent I could find and the "temp" reading is way off. is that feature still supported? I re flashed the most recent char set also.
just curious if I missed that the temp doesn't function.. It is so hard to search this thread.. in fact I can't figure out how to search it..
I fly the copter version of MinimOSD-Extra (August revision) and I can't get rid of the 'Overspeed' warning message (and occasionnally 'High V-Speed') even when doing a hover. What is the thing I should have missed ?
In the config tool you can adjust those parameters to make them higher values. Also, make sure its copter vs plane - I had that issue where I accidentally loaded plane - while I was SURE I loaded copter - and the vspeed warning was way too sensitive (among other things that were just wrong.)
Anyways, you can adjust those in the CT and run them up to much higher values.. Good luck! If still stuck, try to post a picture or video of the OSD, as well as your main CT screen, and I'm sure someone will have an answer.
There's a new pre-release of minimOSD extra.
Plane and Copter changes:
Disables clear osd if no heartbeat (it seems that sometimes Arduplane wasn't sending heartbeat).
Now it shows OSD information as long as there is any valid mavlink data.
Copter specific changes:
Added 2 modes to mode panel: drift (drif) and sport (sprt)
Any feedback will be much appreciated (and videos :) )
Hello Migual !
You have no idea how happy I was to read this.
I will update my osd's , will go flying and will report back.
Please test it first at home.
I can't promess it will work right as it is right now since I wasn't able to test it :S
Yes, there has already been thoughts regarding tapes/ladders.
But we don't have space :(
So now we're focused on allowing custom fw based on panel selection.
That way we will be able to create as many new panels as we can. Then people would be able to select as many panels as chip space allows.
kickstarter is the next step- I would be one of the backers for sure
Higher resolution , additional space for FPM, radar, and so on ...
Can someone confirm that the temperature reading is working ok in these most recent versions?
Mine is way off, so wondering if its me or not.. thanks!
