I have started to add functions to MinimOsd code.

At first i did it for myself only. Added many functions i thought i need. Then opened this thread.

after a while, Pedro and later Miguel came, and things started to happen fast. :D

They have optimised the code and added even more things to it.

They have worked hard on CT, and it became a great tool!

By now MinimOSD-Extra got a pretty advanced OSD.

Here it is in action:


- Changeable unit measurement (US, metric)

- Airspeed

- Home alt

- Battery Percent

- Battery used mah

- Current Draw

- Time From Startup (cleared at takeoff to show exact flight time)

- OSD Menu

- Variometer

- Wind horizontal speed and direction, and also the average wind speed of the last few minutes. 

- OSD on/off

- Switchable secound screen

- WP distance

- WP heading

- Crosstrack error

- Warning messages for Lost GPS fix, Stall, Overspeed, battery volt, battery Percent, RSSI

- Efficiency, glide distance & thermic notifier. 3 in one panel

- OSD Brightness

- HAM Call Sign

- After flight summary

- Trip distance

- Temperature

- Smoothened horizon

- Real heading


- Vertical speed

This functions can be turned on and off, and placed on different screens now, by the Config. tool.

Also RSSI, switching mode and channel and unit measurement, Stall speed warning, Overspeed warning, Battery warning volt, Battery percent warning, RSSI warning,  can be set in new Config Tool.

We built in a new way of setting video standards. Now OSD does not guessing anymore :). You can set it fixed from CT. It is in "Video Mode" menu.

Hi Mark,

Did you tried to downgrade the Arducopter Version? I think I saw a comment in Arducopter thread that this beta is Pixhawk related and some features will only be compatible to APM when they release 3.2. Could this be the issue?

I wanted to test that arducopter beta yesterday but didn't had time to do it :(

Hi...your tx only are one audio channel...usually 1.3 have mono...but boscam..and inmersion have stereo...

If you are you meybe contact a creator of dakar osd and lince tracker in aeromodelismo virtual..maybe this help you to implement a video telemetry...dakar is not open.source...time ago i build the dakar and lince and works very good...i think antenna tracker it's gre at for fpv long flight..

Rssi works on A6. Channel 5-8 refers to which channel you want to use on your RC controller to change the OSD screens. It will be the input PWM channels, just like your other flight controls.

There are 2 ways to have RSSI shown on minimOSD:

1 - If you have a 0V no RSSI, 5V max RSSI output, you may want to set in APM RSSI_PIN parameter (it allows to use some ports A0, A1, A2 and A13 I guess) http://copter.ardupilot.com/wiki/arducopter-parameters/. Then APM sends that info to minimOSD and we show it.

2 - For those guys that have pwm RSSI you may want to select in CT Tool ch8 (it is the only ch implemented in fw) to use as RSSI sensing channel. This way you connect your receiver's RSSI out to the APM ch8 port.

By the way, even with pwm RSSI you may make a low pass filter to convert it to "linear" RSSI.

I think option 1 is the best because this way both APM and minimOSD know the RSSI status.

I noticed that we can already set the RSSI channel to channels 5-8 on CT Tool for MinimOSD Extra Pre Release r727 and can also set the RSSI max value to 2000 (which I assume is the pwm max value).

I'll try this tonight, but just to confirm, setting channel 8 and raw in the CT will mean it will read the pwm signal on Channel 8 of the APM yes?  I have LINK out from channel 5 in my ezuhf and connecting to chan 8 of the apm. tia!

Although CT Tool shows ch 5-8, in fw it is only working for ch8.

Yes, if you set to show raw data it should show pwm that APM reports.
