APM 2.0 and XBEEs 2.4GHz

Hi there,

I've been following the progress of Ardupilot for quite some time and stumbled over the announcement of the APM 2.0 just yesterday.

This board looks great and I think I'll finally build an UAV and give it a try.

Now I've been reading basically all night, but three questions remain, regarding telemetry and the XBEE modules:

1. Do I need an additional shield to connect the XBEE to the APM 2.0?

2. I'm in Europe, so I'll have to go with the 2.4GHz version. Which one is the right product for this and where can I order it. Especially which antenna version should be used for the plane and ground module?

3. Does APM support the 2.4GHz XBEEs or only 900MHz?

I'd like to order the right stuff from the beginning as shipping from the US will take some time.

Thanks already!

  • Hi

If you pop over to www.buildyourowndrone.co.uk you will see the 2.4Ghz telemtry set created for APM. That should provide you with a complete list of components that are known to work. As for support, APM never sees the radio side (it sends/recieves data to/from the Xbee, the radio side of th Xbee is invisible) so frequency support is independent.

    Hope that helps
