APM failsfe options...

I see in the manual I have a few options when it comes to radio-lost failsafe..?

I was hoping that when I lose radio contact for any reason, the APM could auto switch its mode to "RTL"?

How would I go about doing that?

Also a little off subject.. I am having trubble with the "RTL" feature?

The stabilize works great! however, when I switch to RTL mode the plane dosent seem to respond enough to change coarse and head home..?

  • Anthony,

There is no such thing as looking right I'm afraid! All autopilots (even commercial airline ones) need to be tuned to the airframe they are in. The Wiki gives step by step instructions on tuning the APM to your airframe:

Don't try to judge the movement of control surfaces, you need to get the airframe in the air to properly tune it.

  • 1. Its in the wiki. You have a number of different ways to set this up. One is to set your rc failsafe to put the AP into RTL through your mode select channel, you can also set this up from the throttle channel which is a slightly more involved process but not much.

    2. Sounds like youe nav_roll PID is to low. Try increasing it by about 20% at a time.
