APM2 Sudden Dive - unknown cause - help.

Hello all

I have used the APM2 with ArduPlane version 2.65 software for a while now.

But then some time ago, it had a fault.

I don't have any logs since I did not use the telemetry and I did not setup the log files to save on the flash.

But I have the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SBDLU4tLDn8&feature=youtu.be

It will speak for it self - at no point did i fly in manual during this flight, it is all done in auto-mode.

I have flown a ton of hours where no such thing has happened, I know cause I got it all on film.

The source of this sudden dive is unknown, and I am scared to put it up in the air again before, solving the problem, and how do I verify that the problem is solved?

Plane: Twinstar II

Board: ArduPilot Mega 2

Software version: 2.65

Extra:

External GPS

Airspeed sensor

This setup has been used since November 2012 and this is the first time I have seen anything like this.

Any one experienced anything similar?

What can the source of this problem be, how do i solve it and how do i verify that it will not happen again?

  • Why dont you upgrade to 2.74b?
It has much better attitude and altitude control (not to mention the L1 controller for heading)
To my understanding it also has better task scheduling, with the absolute priority on control.

Without logs I cannot help you I'm affraid.
