Hi  I am new to all of the types of Flight Controllers if that is what the APM and NAZA are?? I want to get into the Quad Copters or Multi Rotor platform. I know NOTHING about Code or Writing programs I Barely know how to use a computer. I would like to build something that I can put a set of goggles on and fly around my property and take pictures of my Wife and two yorkies. Is That Legal and if so which system would be the one that a newbie like me could use without too much Alcohol  or Nerve Medication at the end of the Day?? Thanks in Advanced Dean.

  • Hi Dean and welcome.

If you are this new, don't be worrying about these things yet.  Go to your local hobby shop and get a very inexpensive Blade or Hubsan (those are brand names) quad copter that has a little camera on it.  Practice flying around - not too close to the wife or Yorkies, (the Yorkies are going to hate it anyway, my Maltese has an aneurysm whenever I fire up a quad)...

Practice, practice, practice.  You will crash.  A lot.  But you'll be flying a cheap rugged unit that doesn't cost much.  Then and only then start worrying about APM or NAZA or any other flight controller.

There's a link on here somewhere that is a very good object lesson in getting into the hobby.  Also the DroneAreFun website has a very good brand-newbie page.

  • The APM is an autopilot and the NAZA is a flight controller. (anyway, for a FC, a better choice is the NAZE32 rather than the NAZA)
