Disturbance in the Magnometer

I have 4 motors that are causing a magnetic disturbance in the magnometer. I wanted to know if there was a way to compensate for the disturbance caused by the magnetic field of the motors. I was thinking of using the COMPASS_MOT_X, COMPASS_MOT_Y, and COMPASS_MOT_Z to compensate for the disturbance.

Is there any way that I can get rid of the disturbance in the magnometer due to the motors' magnetic field?

If you're compassmot returns over 30% and you want to get it down, you need to move your amp away from the magnetic source. Most people move their amp higher up on the stack on their quad frame.
  • Run Compassmot.
Go into your Terminal window and connect the APM.
Type Setup and hit Return. Type Compassmot and hit Return.
This procedure relies on you spooling up your motors to 50 - 75% for several seconds.
Best and safest way is to remove all props, flip them over then replace them onto say the adjacent motor clockwise. This puts the full load on each motor but sucks the copter to the ground.
This will work on Throttle Position but is best if you have a Current Sensor fitted. The routine tells you how it's measuring.
At the end of the test hit Return. You'll be given a Percentage which I think needs to be under 60% preferably but less than 30% is what you want to achieve.
