Hello pilots! I am new and want to build my first quad copter, but I am not sure about the ESC, Motor, Propeller on my part list. I also do not know which battery pack and battery charger I need to fly between 10 and 20 minutes with my setup. Please give me advise about the parts, if you think there is a better alternative or if I forgot a part. Thank you!!

Alot like my build , U used the Q-brain ESC 25 amp, and the HK power module from hobby king, running a 4500 Mah zippy compact battery. Also buy a couple of the frames when u crash you will need spare parts and there so cheap. I made the mistake of not ordering 2 then I had to wait for my new frame to arrive..... I'm using this motor "Motor prop combo"  with props and is close to the stock DJI flamewheel 450 motor and prop combo seems like its working ok for me no problems yet and a fair price.

Your propellers are a bit small. Why not go for 10x4.7 or even 11x4.7. Larger props require lower engine rpm and result in less battery.

Thanks for the advise, the motor + props look really nice! Might buy them, but I don't think I am going for the Q-Brain. On hobbyking I read they get pretty hot, and also if for example one ESC inside of it burns or needs replacement, it will be more difficult than just replace one Turnigy ESC. Buying more of these frames are really smart. Thanks

About the battery,

Can I use all of these batteries with the ESC and motor above? (my list and your advised motor)

Thank you for the advise. If I buy the motor + prop combo advised by Neuro, they have 1047 props. Otherwise I will buy 1047 props separately thanks!

I would go with at least 30 c rating, I always over spec the battery C rating to help keep the battery from getting hot and puffing up, this comes from years of RC car driving, I've had 15+ flights on one of my batteries and they hardly get warm, 2200 mah will not get very long flight times I'm getting around 12 minutes with 4500 Mah if I do not turn on my Nav lights. I haven't had any trouble with the q-brain esc so far I haven't noticed it getting hot, I have it mounted on the bottom plate of the Q450 frame its priced really well so if it does burn up I can replace it fairly cheap , the main reason I got it is to keep interference down and witth the compass and it balances out being in the center of the frame I don't have to worry about Esc's getting damaged in a crash. I can see why people have concern with them , I opened it up when I got it and it looks to be made quite well. also you don't need a Power distribution board with this set up so that is more weight reduction and point of failure due to connection loss.

Nice choice of parts.  I'm using the 450mm frame, with SimonK ESCs (30A OPTO).  I agree with above comment, 30A is better, 450 arms are the way to go, easy to replace.  I've designed 3D-printed fuselage and ESC covers that integrate with the 450 frame, and have a lot of other 3D printed designs that work with square aluminum tubing (search Submerse or SwiftBot on Shapeways, adding new parts to the store weekly).  The enclosures allow grabbing the quad and picking it up like a turtle without touching any of the circuits or messing with the autopilot mounting or pulling on harnessing.  Also protects the ESCs, and mounts them underneath the arms - easy to grab the quad by the arms too.  Measured difference in flight time with fuselage.  I like the nano-tech batteries, they seem to be much better than the 'regular' LiPos

I wouls also take larger props on slower motors.. had excellent flight time with Axi 2217 860 kV motors and 11x4.5 APC props, or 12x4.5 black plastic EPP ones. Okay those are expensive motors but others in the 850kV and 70g range will do also.
Regards, Soren

@Neuro Ok, so above 4000mah with above 30C it is! Yes, the Q-brain looks nice indeed and will balance the quadcopter better then 4 arm ESC's. So I might buy it.

@Andrew Neushul I will have a look at sumberse or swiftbot on shapeways, thanks

lower kV sounds good, but bigger props won't fit on all frames.. And higher kV rating motors can't handle the bigger props, they will get hot.. So I will have a look at the axi motor, maybe it is better

Hi,
Okay! just for clarification, that Axi was just an example of a motor that I had success with. There is nothing unique about it. Others with the same (actual) specs will be fine too. The Axi is hih quality for a price that is no longer cheap.
Regards, soren
I think everything looks good , except the 4s lipo I believe the recommended battery for 10.47 props is 3s also if you want long flight times u need more mah this is the battery I use its perfect size to be strapped onto the frame also don't forget the straps! Ohh and extra props I got green for the front! http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=...
